Disney Cruise

On my quest to do things I haven't done before, I set up a vacation to Orlando, Florida. Now, I'm from Florida (Miami) and I've been to Disney a zillion times, so this time we are going to Universal and Seaworld. I've never been to either. I'm also thinking of actually extending the vacation and taking one of the Disney cruises. My husband and I have cruised a lot, but never on a Disney Cruise. He says he's up for it, so now I just have to find out if my boss will let me have the extra time.

We all need memory

I remember about ten years ago, I noticed my mom forgetting a lot of things. We would tease her and blame it on her getting older. Secretively we worried she might have something going on. Well, I am now ten years older and guess what? I am so forgetful. No, my mom does not have Alzheimers, actually she seems sharper than ever. Obviously, as we age, some of the memory is affected. My question is, though, with all the high tech discoveries, why can't they come up with some kind of implant they can put in our brains like the cards and such they use to increase computer memory? Computers are like our brains...sure wish someone would work on it.

It's time to lose some weight

Okay, I can't take it anymore. I have been taking all these different medications for my lupus and I cannot believe what they have done to me. Little by little I have gained weight. In the last six months alone I have gained 20 pounds and I swear I am not eating any differently than I usually do. I spoke to my doctor and he confirmed that the drugs I am taking can do this. So, we are weaning me off of them and then I am going to try to find an over-the-counter weight loss product that will help me get some of this weight off. I just hope my lupus doesn't flare up real bad.

What a Mess!

Lord have mercy! This getting old stuff is starting to work on me. Last night I felt kind of tired and achey, so I went into the bathroom and turned on the tub faucets to fill it up. I left the room and went and took one of my pain pills and the phone rang. So, of course, I went and answered it. I was talking to a friend of mine and I remember saying, "Geez, it is really raining out." We continued talking for about a half an hour when I realized what I had done. I jumped up and looked outside...no rain. The tub was just flooding all over the place! What a mess!

I need a passport in a hurry!

I went on a cruise last year and really enjoyed it. I can't remember if I needed my passport or not. I have one tattered and worn out book. It has been all around the world and back. I am planning my vacation for this year and just happened to open it up and look at the expiration date. Crap! It expired in February of this year. Now I have to get a new passport immediately. Geez, I hope I can get it quick enough or I'm in trouble.

Tables can finish the look

When you are working on decorating your home, it is important to create balance. One of the things I learned is that you should have no more than one or two focal points within a room, meaning, your nicest or most expensive item. If you have too many, the room will feel busy to people. One of the things I like to use in a room is coffee tables because they can make such a statement. If your room is contemporary, you can get an ultra modern one that almost looks like a sculpture. If it is more traditional, you can get something that is solid wood with carvings...the options are unlimited.

Old Time Gamer

When you think of gamers, I'm sure you think of teens and young adults, right? Well, today that is not exactly true. I fell in love with gaming back in the days of pacman. Lord, I was great at that game. But we have come a long way. Now an AARP emember, I love gaming more than ever. For Christmas I got a WII game console for my family room and the next thing I'm getting is a PS2 for our other living room! I just can't get enough!

A Little Shade Is Nice

We've just about done everything we wanted to do to upgrade our home. When it was built we had the builders put in things like nice tile floors and some wood ones. We also had them go ahead and put up a privacy fence as well as drywall the garage. It really is pretty nice. We have it furnished nicely but I am very concerned about the sun that shines in on my wood furniture. I was thinking that I might get the windows tinted, but now I am thinking that some very nice wood blinds would add to the decor and shade the place a bit.

Do we get too old to party?

When I was young I used to get invited to all kinds of parties. You know the ones I'm talking about, the bridal showers, the baby showers, the Tupperware parties, Home Decor, etc. I can't even count how many baby gifts I bought during the time span of my being 20 to 35 years old. I thought I enjoyed them, but now looking back, I'm not so sure. I can tell you now though, that I hate to get invitations at 50 some years old...isn't it sad? I've turned into a party-pooper.
