LINDA (grinning) I am Unc. I can't wait! Cecil glances at his feet where he can see the dog eating the remains of the food on the floor that Linda had dropped. Cecil smiles at Linda. CECIL I see you've eaten quite a lot of your food now. You can leave what's left if you like. LINDA Thanks, Dad. May I leave the table please? Cecil nods. CECIL Yes, off you go then. Linda gets up and goes around the back of her father, giving him a kiss on the cheek as she does so. LINDA (whispering in his ear) I love you. Cecil pats Linda's arm CECIL I love you too. RENE (jealously) Don't I get a kiss too? Linda doesn't say anything but gives her mother a quick peck on the cheek and then exits the room with the dog on her heels. BACK TO PRESENT
