EXT. VILLAGE CLINIC - AFTERNOON LInda and her mother walk toward the door to enter the clinic. LINDA (resistant) But the police woman said I didn't need to be checked. Rene grabs Linda's hand roughly and gives her a nasty look. RENE I decide what's needed or not needed. You'll do as I say. Linda tugs trying to pull out of her mother's grip. LINDA (pleading) I don't want to...nothing happened. I got away before it could and you know that! Rene yanks Linda. RENE How dare you answer me back. You're my daughter and I make the decisions! Linda is dragged through the door by Rene. INT. HAMPTON LODGE - NIGHT Linda is in her bedroom, sitting on her bed in the dark. There is light streaming in under her door from the hallway. She is listening to her parents in the next room. CECIL (O.S.) (anger) No, Rene, I forbid it! RENE (O.S.) You're wrong! We should get a second opinion...that doctor is old. CECIL (O.S.) I said no! And that's the end of it! RENE (O.S.) But... CECIL (O.S.) (sharply) No, buts. Linda is still a virgin according to the doctor and you shouldn't have put her through that examination in the first place. The police told you it wasn't necessary...only you thought you knew better! RENE (pointedly) It's not just that, you never know what she might have been up to with the boys from the village and... CECIL (anger, disbelief) How could you, Rene? It's obvious she hasn't been up to anything. You won't give her a bloody chance! (beat) I said no and that's the end to this conversation! I don't want to hear anymore about it! Linda lets out a sigh and rests her head back on her pillow. She stares at the ceiling. LINDA (V.O.) Thanks, Dad. God, she's such an old witch...why does she hate me so much? We are all adopted. What's wrong with me? She never has a go at Ann and Ann's no angel. She doesn't beat the shit out of Roger like she does me. Why does Ann do no wrong in her eyes? I wish she's have a go at someone else for a change.
