INT. MICK'S PARENT'S HOME - NIGHT There are people lounging around the room. Some asleep on the floor, etc. Linda and Brian are sharing a lounge chair kissing, snuggling and mauling each other. Linda is sitting on Brian's lap. Rock and roll music is playing in the background. There are drinks everywhere and it is obvious that everyone has drunk too much. Brian and Linda cannot keep their hands off each other. INSERT DATE Summer, 1972 INT. LE SOL - MIDDAY Linda and her mother are in a heated argument in the dressing room. Linda is standing by the end of a bed and her mother is towering over her. RENE (menacingly) You will do as I say! I will not allow this! LINDA (trying to stand straight) I have told you, there is nothing you can do. I will get engaged to Brian. I will not give him up, I love him. I don't no what your problem is, he's never been in any trouble. he's good enough to do your electrical odd jobs around here for nothing. Anyway, I am talking about a long engagement. Why are you being so unreasonable? RENE (sarcastically) I said no and I meant no! He is not in our class! If you have to, you keep him as a bit of rough on the side. I'll give you seventy- five thousand pounds to dump him right now. Linda's mother goes to her handbag on her dressing table and pulls out a checkbook and begins writing out a cheque. Linda shakes her head in disbelief. LINDA (annoyed) I said no and I meant it...mum. You won't change my mind. You cannot buy love and you cannot buy me! Linda's mother drops the checkbook and pen and rushes to Linda and slaps her hard across the face. RENE (viciously) you can get out the! I'm not having it! No one...especially you is going to defy me! Stupid little bitch. Linda's mother starts hitting Linda wherever she can, kicking and punching her. Linda manages to make it to the door and get out of the room. Linda's mother rushes after her. RENE (V.O.) How dare you disobey me. Come back her right now! The sound of Linda's mother hitting Linda is heard, followed by a large crashing noise, like furniture being knocked over.
