May, 1973 Linda and Brian are in the lounge. They are cuddling on the settee. LINDA Alone at last! Some honeymoon! BRIAN (shaking his head) Well, we'll just have to have a real honeymoon later when we can afford it. Linda looks straight into Brian's face. LINDA yes, but we should have had one straight after the wedding. Or at least gone into a hotel or something for the wedding night. Brian moves away from Linda. BRIAN We couldn't afford to...stop going one about it. LINDA (unpleased) Look, I don't know how I've put up with the last two weeks. My mother refusing to let us have any friends to the wedding...not allowing a photographer and eight members of your family all staying with us in this two bedroom flat without any warning Brian stands up and paces. LINDA (continuing) Plus that silly cow your cousin brought along who's been trying to get off with you the whole time! It's cost us more than a honeymoon just to feed everyone. Linda stops talking for a second and watches Brian. Brian looks irritated. LINDA (continuing) Some things you just don't do if you have any manner. I feel we were used as a holiday for everyone else and you have shown no consideration for my feelings. (beat) Anything to keep the peace!
