BRIAN Calm down...I've talked to a solicitor and he says we can file a suit. Linda stops pacing. LINDA File a suit...I don't understand what's going on here! BRIAN Keith has a criminal record. LINDA So? BRIAN So, that's why the Deputy doesn't like him. Apparently, he has a grudge against Keith. (beat) Keith claims that he went to jail and did time for something he didn't do and the only other person who Keith thinks could have done it was...you know who! Plus he's a newcomer and you know how they are about newcomers here. Anyway, he is now saying that if we don't sack Keith that he will shut us down by saying that we can't run a business on this property. LINDA But, the people before us ran a business here! BRIAN Yes, but apparently they never got permission...just no one bothered them. They will use this against us if we don't cooperate. Linda sits back down in chair and puts her head in her hands. LINDA Well...we'll fight them! This isn't fair and Keith has done no one any harm. She looks up at her husband. LINDA (continuing) Call the solicitor and tell him to fight...we'll come up with the money somehow! DISSOLVE TO:
