When my parents moved into their house they wanted something out back because it just looked so bare. They had a guy come build a pergola but that was the worst decision. Now they complain because they smoke outside and in the summer it's too hot. In the winter it's too cold. Now they are saying they are going to hang some blinds & shades to block the sun and some of the wind. I don't think this is going work as they imagine.
