Do a Background Check

If you own a business and have employees, you really should do background checks on them before you bring them in and give them access to your money and products. It is sad but today there are a lot of crooks out there and you just can't be safe enough. I always thought that only big business could do employment screening, but I was wrong. For a small fee you get background checks done on everyone in your company.

We recently received an assignment where we are to reveiw some pearl jewelry that the company was going to send us. Well, let me tell you, I received it yesterday and I was so delighted! I have to tell you that I work with some of the silliest people. Christmas is just around the corner and I've been thinking about what I could get them. We always exchange gifts but we have a cheap limit on it, so it is really hard to find something nice. This year I think I will seek out something humorous. A silly gift would actually seem quite appropriate, maybe I can find some funny t-shirts for each of them....I think they would like that!

Okay, I am so sick of being the gopher for my husband and sons. I don't mind when they are sending me for things that I understand. I hate it when I have no clue what they are talking about. Today my mission was to find a good vice grip and of course it had to have specific qualities. So I went on line and was not having much luck until my son told me search under work holding tools. I'll be darn!

Unlocked Cell Phones

My cell phone is a year old and I am just sick of it. I want something new and modern. I called my carrier and they said I could upgrade but that at this point in time, if I did I'd have to pay a seventy dollar upgrade fee. I'm cheap and don't want to do that because by the time I add even the promotional rate for the phone I'll be talking big bucks. I want to find out about unlocked cell phones. The question I have is, can they be activated at any carrier or do the carrier's take an attitude and not activate because it isn't their phone?

My one son is such a techie and it really makes me feel bad. When he was young he thought I was cool because I had all the latest gadgets and when pc's became available, I was the first to get one. I suppose he thought this meant I really knew something. What he didn't know was that I am simply fascinated by electronics....I don't really know anything. Today he text messaged me and tells me to go online and find him a HDMI wall plate. I have no clue what this even is. I guess I'm going to have to confess to him that I am no techie.

I’ve been talking a lot about diets and diet pills. I’ve met some people who claim they really work and others who say they don’t. I hate spending money, but I need some help with this diet thing. My husband laughs, but when I get hungry, I get really dizzy, so it is hard for me to cut back too much. The other day I heard someone talking about some extreme fat burner and while I am not sure what that is, it sure sounds like what I need.

I got up this morning and while I was brushing my teeth, I thought I saw a hair in the sink. When I went to get it out I realized that it wasn’t a hair, it was a crack. Crap, it is always something. Now I have to buy a new sink. I get so sick of things falling apart. This time I think I’m going to look at vessel sinks because I think they are very cool.

I Can't Imagine Having No Coffee

There are few things that I demand in life. I'm pretty easy to please and very easy going. But on my list are two things. The first is my cigarettes. I'm not a heavy smoker, but I do enjoy them and the second is my coffee. I just have to have it. I love all kinds of coffee. In fact, I asked my husband to go look at espresso machines so I can find the one I want for Christmas.

Magnetic Healing Powers

I have heard a lot of people talk about the magnetic healing powers. I'm not sure that I understand how this could be possible, but then again, I am no doctor. Several of my relatives believe in it and have various pieces of jewelry. My dad is a golfer and he always wears a magnetic bracelet. I thought at first it was to improve his golf game, but he explained to me that it helps his joints. I have Lupus and I wonder if one of these might help me.

Wow, I just checked out a website that had some of the coolest furniture. In particular what caught my eye was their tv lifts. What a cool concept! Beautiful wood cabinets and book shelves with a mechanisim that allows you to raise and lower your tv into the cabinet. Man, my husband would love this because he has always thought that tv's were an eyesore in a beautiful living room!

I just bought the coolest thing...what is it? A pasta maker! My husband laughed when it came because I do not cook very much, let alone make something homemade. However, I love pasta and I thought it might be fun. I went online after it came and found some great pasta recipes. This past Sunday, Tropical storm Fay was blowing over us, so I spent the day making pasta. It was so cool and it really did taste good!

I'm a Huge Mustang Fan!

Now you wouldn't know it by looking at me but I am a huge Mustang fan. The very first car I had was a Mustang and I remember the day I got it like it was yesterday. I was sixteen and I had told my dod he didn't need to get me a car, because I was going to get a job and save for the car I wanted. He laughed when I told him I wanted a Mustang. He told me to go ahead and save for it and I did just that.

Working at a restaurant every day after school, I stashed away my tips which weren't adding up too quickly. Anyway, when my seventeenth birthday rolled around, I remember my dad was acting a bit weird. He kept taunting me about what he had got me. I was figuring he got me a stereo system I had told him I liked when we were at a store. Finally, he couldn't contain himself any longer. He blind folded me and walked me outside and there she was....a beautiful 1970 Mustang! To this day, that was the best gift ever!

Today, I go to every car show and frequent Amercianmuscle.com to see what parts are available for my 1987 Mustang. This is an awesome site. The coolest thing about it is that they list models by years and when you click it, you get the Mustang history for each year. The info contains things like why Ford changed the body on certain models or why the engine was upgraded. Very informative and interesting stuff for anyone who loves Mustangs.

I am really thinking that instead of total retirement, maybe I should look at opening a business. My husband thinks that is a crazy idea. But, I'm not talking about opening something that I have to work a ton of hours on...I want to be the big boss and hire managers, etc. I know that today doing any kind of business is a big risk. However, I believe with all my heart that if you are looking for a small business for sale you need to consider looking at franchise opportunities as well since you can minimize the risk, especially if you get with a company with a proven name.

I love the internet. It has made shopping for everything so much easier. Not just items but services and insurance as well. It used to be you could spend hours on the phone calling for insurance quotes. Each time, the person who answered would ask you a bunch of questions and what you probably didn't know was that they also would check your credit. Then it would be the next day before you got your quote. Not today. Today you can get an online auto insurance quote in minutes with one click of a button.

GPS for Christmas

I know its only August, but I am focusing on Christmas. Every year Christmas sneaks up on me and I'm never prepared financially. Not this year; I'm already on it. I've already started saving my change and I'm tryin g to decide exactly what I'm buying everyone. I plain to have it bought and paid for before Christmas. I haven't decided what to buy moy oldest son, but my youngest has talked about getting a Garmin GPS, so that is item number one on my list!

Ellipticals, the ultimate workout

Wow, have you ever used an elliptical? I used to go the gym and use the different equipment. I was never good on a treadmill and forget about a stair stepper. I mostly liked the weight machines. My friend kept telling me that ellipticals were the best workout. Well, my son bought one recently so I went over to try it. I believe my friend. My entire body hurt after only a couple of minutes which is exactly how long I lasted on it.
